True Black Background Wallpaper
Backgrounds that mean it — verified true blacks, mobile-first fills, the pieces people hunt after discovering their 'black' wallpaper was dark grey. Free downloads.
True black is a standard, not a shade — and most files sold as black fail it. This shelf keeps the ones that pass: genuine #000000 backgrounds, mobile-first fills, pattern pieces whose base never lightens. The famous iPhone-X complaint — wanting true black and finding only almost — is the exact problem this gallery answers. Tall cuts lead a close split. Long-press on a phone or right-click on a desktop, save, then set it from your settings. Free for personal use throughout.
Common questions
Do black wallpapers actually save battery?
On OLED and AMOLED screens, yes. A true-black (#000000) pixel is switched off rather than dimmed, so it draws no power — and with an always-on display that runs all day the difference is measurable. On an LCD screen it saves nothing, because the backlight stays on either way. Not sure which you have? Our OLED test tool fills the screen with pure black: on an OLED it goes completely dark, on an LCD you can still see the backlight glowing grey.
