Dark Black Wallpaper
Dark rather than pitch — Windows 11 blacks, stone and textile textures, glitch art, and a run of dark anime frames. The shade between switched-off and moody. Free to download; sign in to post your own.
There is a difference between a black wallpaper and a dark one, and this gallery lives in that gap. Most pieces here hold detail in the shadows — the grain of a stone surface, the weave of black textile, the outline of an anime figure just above the noise floor — so the screen reads as deliberate, not blank. The Windows-style minimal blacks make good work screens; the glitch and smiley pieces are for phones that want a bit of attitude. Long-press on mobile or right-click on desktop to save one, then set it from your gallery. Everything is free for personal use.
Common questions
Do black wallpapers actually save battery?
On OLED and AMOLED screens, yes. A true-black (#000000) pixel is switched off rather than dimmed, so it draws no power — and with an always-on display that runs all day the difference is measurable. On an LCD screen it saves nothing, because the backlight stays on either way. Not sure which you have? Our OLED test tool fills the screen with pure black: on an OLED it goes completely dark, on an LCD you can still see the backlight glowing grey.
