How we curate wallpapers
Every image on GrabPx is uploaded by our community — and every upload passes the same five checks before it reaches a gallery. Here is exactly what those checks are.
GrabPx doesn't produce the artwork itself. Members upload visuals they created or have the right to share, each with its original source, and our job is what happens next: reviewing, de-duplicating, optimising and organising those submissions so the library stays clean and every image is credited.

1. Resolution floor
Submissions below 1080×1920 (phone) or 1920×1080 (desktop) aren't published. The reason is simple: a 720p file stretched onto a 1440p phone screen looks soft no matter how good the artwork is. Most of what stays in the library sits well above that floor — 1440×3200 and 2160×3840 for phones, 3000×1687 and 3840×2160 for desktops.
Every image also carries its true pixel dimensions on the card, so you can see what you're getting before you tap. No “4K” labels on 1080p files.
2. Duplicate detection
Wallpapers get re-uploaded, re-encoded and re-cropped endlessly across the web, so identical-looking images arrive as completely different files. We catch them in three layers:
- Byte hash (MD5) — identical files collapse into one record automatically.
- Perceptual hash (64-bit DCT pHash) — survives re-encoding and resizing, so a re-saved JPEG of the same picture is recognised.
- Gradient hash (256-bit dHash) — adds fine structural detail so genuinely different images with similar colours stay separate.
Exact matches merge on their own. Anything that only looks similar goes to a manual review queue instead of being deleted automatically — two different gradients or two shots of the same moon are not the same wallpaper.
3. Format and delivery
Every accepted image is converted to WebP at high quality and stored alongside its original, plus a smaller thumbnail used in gallery grids. Browsers get a light file while scrolling and the full-resolution file when you open or download an image — so pages stay fast without costing you quality.
Files are served from our own CDN (cdn.grabpx.com) with long-lived caching, and gallery pages render server-side so the first images appear immediately rather than after a JavaScript round-trip.
4. Device testing
Screens are not interchangeable. A 3000×1687 desktop frame cropped onto a 20:9 phone loses half its subject; a tall 1440×3200 portrait pillarboxes on a monitor. So galleries interleave portrait and landscape rather than burying one behind the other, and every image can be previewed on real device mockups before you download — iPhone and Android, iPad and tablets, laptops, and monitors up to 49" ultrawide.
Dark and AMOLED-black wallpapers get extra attention because they behave differently on OLED hardware: true-black pixels switch off entirely, which visibly reduces battery draw. You can check your own panel with our OLED screen test.
5. Copyright and content review
GrabPx hosts user-generated content, and every visual keeps a link back to where it came from. Anything adult, violent, hateful, or obviously infringing is rejected outright.
If something slips through, the fix is one click away: every image page has a report link, and our DMCA process is handled by a registered agent with the U.S. Copyright Office (Reg. No. DMCA-1078124). Valid takedown requests are actioned quickly — typically within 24 hours — and the image is removed from every gallery it appears in.
Found something we missed?
Curation is never finished — a low-resolution file or a duplicate occasionally gets through. If you spot one, tell us and it gets fixed.
