Simple Plain Black Wallpaper
Simple on purpose — plain blacks with the occasional whisper of detail: a faint texture, a single minimal mark. For home screens that want nothing to prove. Free downloads.
Widgets and icons look their best against a background that refuses to compete, and that is the entire philosophy of this set. Most files are plain or nearly plain black; the exceptions carry just one quiet idea — a satin grain, a minimal game-inspired mark — so the screen stays calm even at full brightness. Wide frames slightly outnumber tall ones, and both crop cleanly since there is little detail to lose at the edges. Long-press on a phone or right-click on a desktop, save it, then set it from your wallpaper settings. Everything here is free for personal use.
Common questions
Do black wallpapers actually save battery?
On OLED and AMOLED screens, yes. A true-black (#000000) pixel is switched off rather than dimmed, so it draws no power — and with an always-on display that runs all day the difference is measurable. On an LCD screen it saves nothing, because the backlight stays on either way. Not sure which you have? Our OLED test tool fills the screen with pure black: on an OLED it goes completely dark, on an LCD you can still see the backlight glowing grey.
