Plain Black Screen Wallpaper
Blacks that play with the screen itself — cracked-glass art, black flame, mesh weaves and swirling fabric, next to honest plain fills. Free to download; sign in to contribute.
Half the fun of a black screen wallpaper is that it can pretend to be the screen. The cracked-glass pieces here are the classic prank — set one and watch someone try to wipe it off — while the flame, mesh and fabric swirls give the panel texture without giving up the dark. The plain fills round it out for people who came for a simple black and nothing else. Wide cuts outnumber tall ones, so desktop users have the most to pick from. Long-press or right-click to save, then set it from your wallpaper settings. Free for personal use.
Common questions
Do black wallpapers actually save battery?
On OLED and AMOLED screens, yes. A true-black (#000000) pixel is switched off rather than dimmed, so it draws no power — and with an always-on display that runs all day the difference is measurable. On an LCD screen it saves nothing, because the backlight stays on either way. Not sure which you have? Our OLED test tool fills the screen with pure black: on an OLED it goes completely dark, on an LCD you can still see the backlight glowing grey.
