High Quality Black Wallpaper
The high-resolution shelf — oil-dark abstracts, black-and-white street photography, matte studies. Files chosen for how they hold up at full size, not just in a thumbnail grid.

Plenty of black wallpapers fall apart when you open them at native size — banding in the gradients, mush in the shadows. The picks here were kept because they do not: the abstract oil pieces stay smooth through their darkest tones, the street photography keeps its grain, the matte studies stay clean edge to edge. Most of the set is wide and desk-ready, with enough tall cuts to cover phones. If quality is the filter you came with, open the full file before judging — thumbnails undersell everything in this gallery. Right-click or long-press to save; free for personal use.
Common questions
Do black wallpapers actually save battery?
On OLED and AMOLED screens, yes. A true-black (#000000) pixel is switched off rather than dimmed, so it draws no power — and with an always-on display that runs all day the difference is measurable. On an LCD screen it saves nothing, because the backlight stays on either way. Not sure which you have? Our OLED test tool fills the screen with pure black: on an OLED it goes completely dark, on an LCD you can still see the backlight glowing grey.
How do I set one as my wallpaper?
Long-press on mobile or right-click on desktop to save the image, then set it from your gallery or system wallpaper settings.
