Black Kindle Wallpaper
Made for e-ink rather than a phone — high-contrast greyscale art that actually reads on a Kindle screen. Community-uploaded; sign in to add yours.
E-ink is a completely different display and most wallpaper fails on it. There is no backlight and no colour, so anything relying on subtle shading or saturation turns into flat grey mush. What works is strong black-and-white contrast with clear shapes. Kindle screens are also small and low-resolution by phone standards — a Paperwhite is 1236x1648 — so simple compositions beat detailed ones. E-ink uses no power holding a static image, so a dark screensaver costs nothing. Long-press or right-click to save; free for personal use.
Common questions
Do black wallpapers save battery on a tablet?
Only on OLED models. Most iPads use LCD, where the backlight stays on and a black wallpaper saves nothing. On an OLED tablet, true-black pixels switch off completely and do reduce power draw.
How do I set one as my wallpaper?
Long-press the image to save it, then open Settings → Wallpaper (iPad) or your Gallery app (Android tablets) and set it from there.
